Field Notes: Survey begins with evidence but offers no explanation. Lines overlap, repeat, disappear, and contradict one another like observations recorded before anyone knows which details matter. The viewer becomes the investigator, trying to distinguish pattern from coincidence and signal from noise.
The danger is deciding too quickly. A theory can make scattered evidence feel orderly long before it is true. This is the chapter before the answer, when attention matters more than certainty.
