Inspired by an earlier work titled Change, this painting carries forward the subtle shape of a rearview mirror and the idea that sometimes we have to look back to understand how far we’ve come.
We spend so much of our lives working toward something, imagining how it will feel when we finally get there. But somewhere along the way, the goalposts keep moving. What once felt out of reach becomes another milestone behind us, and we’re already looking toward the next one, barely recognizing what we’ve accomplished.
It’s easy to lose sight of our own progress when we’re always looking ahead. So every once in a while, we need that glance in the rearview mirror to appreciate the distance between where we started and where we are now.
